The Best Sermons For Me Are The Ones Where I Don’t Only Hear The Preacher.

Hi there, it’s been a minute since I wrote. I apologise. I’ve been working on other things and hopefully, you’ll see the fruits soon. I think I’m back now because there’s been so much on my mind. I’ve been ignoring the nudge to write here for so long but right now I can’t sleep so here we are.

About the title, some of you may be a bit confused but don’t worry. Like you’ve always done, today again, walk with me ❤. Now let’s get into it.

Last night, we had the honour at the Supernatural Life Church, Abuja, of hosting Pastor Poju Oyemade in our Bible Faith Seminar. It was such a beautiful experience and there were a lot of those moments where our eyes opened up to the truth in God’s Word and how it could be applied in our everyday lives. Pastor Poju taught with so many references from scripture and it was so balanced with practical steps. It wasn’t one of those “7 steps to enter the courts of the mysteries of heaven” type stuff. It was simply a “this is how you do it”. I was so blessed. I’d heard of him years ago but yesterday was the first time I had the opportunity to listen to him in person.

Now, for the part that relates to the topic up there.

Pastor Philip said something that was the final drop that led to the overflow for me. He said his favourite parts of Pastor Poju’s messages were towards the end when it seemed like couldn’t even hear his voice anymore. That was the connecting line to all the dots for me.

Have you ever been in that situation where you’re listening to a message either through your headphones/speakers or in person and you get to that point where you just zone out and the Holy Spirit is teaching you things separate from the message but still in that message? I don’t know how to explain it sha but if you’ve been there you probably get it. That has been me for two weeks now. Somewhere in the course of listening to the message, my eyes just open or like Pastor Poju will say, the veil is lifted and then I see the message in the light of my own life, my own situation. At that point I begin to receive insight into how things work or should work. I receive instructions and see how God’s Word can be applied in my day to day life. Sometimes these things are even totally different from the topic the preacher is covering.

I’ve realised that God uses this as an avenue to reach out to us and give us His Word for our daily living. I’ve also realised that as long as we are open to listen, He’s always ready to speak. Whenever the Word of God is taught our hearts will burn recognising God’s presence and the Holy Spirit will lift the veil from our eyes and lead us into truth. That truth which sets free. That truth is Jesus.

See you next time
