You can’t see it clearly
But it is there
Hidden behind the eyes of everyone of these ones

It’s in the tilt of their heads
The determined looks in their eyes
It’s in the fact that they’re still standing
Like the grasses on the field
Despite the harsh harmattan weather
Despite the scorching sun
And the wind that seems like it is determined to blow them way
The way the grasses remain
Green and lush
Never failing
Even if they change colour at the tips
If you would only look down to the roots
You will see it

That same hope in the shadows of the eyes of these ones
Hope for a better tomorrow
A better future
We see it everywhere
In the colour of nature
The colour that reminds us
